Is Ascorbic Acid safe for perioral dermatitis?

Also known as: l-ascorbic acid, vitamin c, ascorbyl glucoside, ascorbyl palmitate

Verdict: Use with Caution

Vitamin C is beneficial for skin but can be irritating at high concentrations (10%+) on PD-prone skin. Lower concentrations and gentler derivatives are generally better tolerated.

Where it appears

Ascorbic Acid may appear in skincare, cosmetic, and personal care products. While not universally problematic, those with active perioral dermatitis should introduce it carefully and monitor for flares.
